Solar Emergency Backup Power

Who Else Needs Solar Emergency Backup Power?

During unexpected power interruptions, batteries can only be relied on for a short period of time.  The need to recharge them will eventually arise.  This is where solar emergency backup power comes in.  Solar chargers and other solar backup power alternatives are now available in the market today.

Many electronic devices  come with built in solar cells.  Gadgets like solar powered mobile phones, netbooks and digital cameras are advantageous because the solar cells in them spare you the worry of having to charge them.  Existing electronic devices without built in solar cells on the other hand, more often than not, accept charging from a solar charger.  These solar emergency backup power chargers connect via a power jack directly to the electronic device much like your power adapter.  There are many portable solar chargers offered today because of the wide range of sizes to choose from.

The Toyota Prius Power project showcases a combination of high solar power and a gasoline driven generator to allow the Prius to provide emergency backup power for field events and even home power requirements.  The Toyota Prius can easily double as a generator when the power gets cut unexpectedly.  This mini power plant can supply energy to your home appliances for a number of days.  However, it is recommended to work closely with an engineer or an electrician to make sure that the process is done with utmost care and precision.

The Prius has a 12 volt electrical system that is common for car accessories.  It has a 220 volt 7 Amp-hour battery for momentum support.  In its ready state, the Prius can provide a sufficient supply of electrical power.  Once the energy system is depleted, its engine will automatically initiate to maintain the charge on its battery allowing it to maintain its ready state for an indefinite period of time until the gas runs out.

So for an alternative backup power solution, think about solar emergency backup power.  Not only is it earth friendly but is also energy efficient.  It is a good way to power your appliances and devices without having to worry about harmful emissions to the environment.
